Welcome to our support center. We provide an overview of the major functionality of the platform as well as provide the opportunity to open a support ticket.
2 Referral Program
2.1 Overview
The referral program offered by us is quite simple. After you have created your account, navigate to the discounts section from within the settings page and click "Referral Program".
You will then be presented with a link that you can use to share with anyone. Once they click the link, a cookie will be stored on their browser. If they register, you are credited with referring them and will receive a promotion code that you can use towards your next token purchase.
2.2 Referral Cookie Expiration
The referral cookie expires one year after it has been set within the browser.
2.3 Promotional Media
Simply contact us and we can assist you in preparing promotional media such as banners, images, etc. that you can use to advertise and create referrals!
3 Purchases
3.1 Purchasing Tokens
When you register on the platform, you are given a bunch of free tokens as a discount. You may find that after some time using the platform that you are running low on tokens and would therefore need to make a purchase in order to replenish your supply.
In order to do so, navigate to the payments section of the account page and click "Buy Tokens". Once there, you are presented with our current products. Select a product you like, apply any discount received through the referral program, and after clicking Proceed to Checkout, enter your payment details with us to complete the purchase.
The tokens will be immediately credited to your account. To read more about our policies regarding token purchases, please navigate to our Terms of Service section.
4 Personals
4.1 Creating a Personal
Whether creating a personal directly after registration or via the user area, it is an easy straightforward process. However, the following instructions will apply to the user area. After your email address is verified, from the main page click "Create Personal". From there, start with the Overview section, filling in the city, activity, orientation, and desired gender. Note that if you already have any open personals or matches corresponding to city, activity, orientation, and desired gender that is chosen, you will not be allowed to create a new similar set.
After the overview, the spend section allows you to input how many personals you would like to match. Based on the current price of a personal, the final token amount is displayed which will be deducted from your balance after the personal is created.
Lastly, it is time to fill in the details of the personal itself in the personal section. Be sure to choose a unique and interesting title as well as body. Note that you will only be allowed to create NSFW content if you have verified your identity with us. The expiration field is used to create automatically expiring personals, which are great if you are travelling to a city for a short time. If you intend to use the same personal often, you can save it as a draft, so that the next time you create a personal, you can easily select it from a dropdown that will appear near the top of the personal section.
After that, click the "Create Personal" button. You will then be redirected back to the main page where you can see an overview of all our personals. If your personal has already matched, it will appear in the matches section, which you can navigate to by clicking the down arrow icon.
5 Matches
5.1 Receiving Matches
Unlike most other matching platforms which requires two users liking each other's profiles in order to create a match, personly works differently. A match automatically occurs whenever personals created with opposing search criteria match each other. An example of one such criteria could be if one personal describes a male seeking a female, while another describes a female seeking male. In this case, there will automatically be a match if the two people have not already matched each other.
A special case occurs when the seek criteria is anyone, for example a male seeking anyone. In this case, anyone can match with anyone but it is not advised to make such personals too often as a user. This use case is reserved more for organizations.
5.2 Match Interaction
Upon receiving a match, navigating to it from the match view will reveal a full chat display where it is possible to interact with the match. If the personal was already in the queue and waiting to be matched, the match is classified as a "maker" and the user must start the conversation. Conversely, if the personal matched a personal that was already in the queue, the match is classified as a "taker" and the user wait to be messaged before messaging back.
If the user has not written anything yet, the match can be cancelled and a refund of the full match amount will be given. The purpose is to give users a fair chance to interact with each other while at the same time ensuring a level of fairness in the system by not spending tokens on wasteful matches.
5.3 Match Feedback
When cancelling a match, there is also the opportunity to provide feedback about what did not work with the match and/or the entire matching process itself. Everyone is encouraged to send feedback!
6 Identity Verification
6.1 Overview
While anonymity comes with a freedom of self expression, there is also an inherent risk associated with anonymous interactions. Identity verification provides a way to mitigate that risk by ensuring that personals are being created by real people and not by impersonators, bots or scammers.
6.2 Verification Process
The identity verification process is quite simple. Navigate to the Identity Verification section of the user area and follow all instructions for uploading documents as well as providing address information. personly will then verify all data.
If there is a problem with the verification data, personly will send an email describing what was wrong and ask that the updated information is submitted again. If all goes well, the documents will be approved and all subsequent personals that are created by the verified user will be marked as verified.
6.3 Matching Verified Personals
Verified users have the option to have their personals only match other verified personals, that is, personals created by other verified people. Any user activating this match setting ensures that their matches occur with verified people and not impersonators.
6.4 NSFW Content
Verified users also have the option to match all personals, not just personals marked as Safe for Work, which is the default match setting. The reasoning here is that engaging in any NSFW activity should be done by people aged 18 years or older and the only way to ensure this age limit is by having a verification process in place.
7 Organizations
7.1 Overview
Organizations are used to create sponsored personals for purposes of advertising a product, event, service, etc. Unlike some platforms in which a user account can be "converted" to an organization, on personly any user can create organizations without needing to perform a special operation on the account itself. However, it may be more advantageous to create a separate account just to manage organizations in order to better separate business and personal concerns.
7.2 Creating an Organization
Creating an organization is a straightforward process. Navigate to the Organizations section under the Verifications section and click Create Organization. After doing so, a form will be presented which allows submitting of organization particulars such as organization name and URL.
Upon submitting the form, the data will be sent to personly for review. Unlike the identity verification process, there is no informational email in case that the data is incorrect; personly will mark the organization as rejected and be in contact directly about how the data should be changed. When the organization is approved, personals can be created using the newly created organization.
Currently there is a limitation on the platform in terms how many active organizations can be created. Currently, there can only be one active organization at a given time. Organizations cannot be fully deleted since they are required by personals that they are attached to. They instead will remain deactivated and still available for view.
7.3 Organization Images
It is also possible to upload images for a newly created organization. After creating the organization, navigate to that organization's page and follow the instructions to upload associated image data. Usually two images are required: one for dark scheme and one for light scheme. The process here follows that of the identity verification process since an email based workflow has been established for images. Once the images have been verified, they will appear along with the organization image underneath the personal.
7.4 Organization Based Personals
Whenever there is an active organization present, all personals which are created are associated with that organization. Currently there is no way to create a personal either with or without an organization attached to it if there is an active organization present. Only when the organization is deactivated are all subsequent personals created without any organization attached.
Sponsored personals have the special property that for purposes of advertising, they can repeatedly match the same users. However, unlike personals without organizations attached, once a match is created the value of the personal is deducted from the user who made the organization personal, independent of whether the personal is a maker or taker. This is to reduce the amount of spam that organizations can potentially created by repeatedly targeting users with the same sponsored personals.
8 Security
8.1 2FA Support via OTP
personly supports 2FA via standard OTP. In the Security section of the personly account settings, navigate to the One Time Password page. Then simply follow the steps for configuring your 2FA device via OTP. Subsequent logins will now require that you enter a OTP as part of the authentication process. Similarly, deactivating OTP is supported as well.
8.2 Recent Logins
It is also possible to view a list of the last devices to have accessed a user account. In the Security section of personly account settings, navigate to the Logins page. There you will see a list containing login details such as Browser, device, OS and IP Address.
8.3 Password Reset
Personly supports standard password reset functionality. If a user is still able to login to the user area, the user should navigate to the Password page of the Security section in the account settings and simply follow the instructions there.
If a user has forgotten their password, they can simply navigate to the Forgot Password page from within the login or registration pages of personly and follow the email based workflow in order to reset your password.
